How to spot a safe crypto casino
Eight quick checks to run before you deposit, from the licence to the withdrawal limits.
Most well-known crypto casinos are fine. A few are not. These checks take about ten minutes and can save you a lot of trouble.
1. Find the licence, then check it
Scroll to the bottom of the casino's site. You should see the company that runs it and a licence number. Click the licence badge: it should open a validation page on the regulator's own website. A badge that's just a picture is a warning sign.
2. See how long it's been running
A casino that has paid players for years has more to lose than one that opened last month. New casinos aren't automatically bad, but be more careful with them.
3. Read the withdrawal terms
- Is there a daily, weekly or monthly withdrawal limit?
- Is there a "max cashout" on bonus winnings?
- Can the casino ask for ID before paying out? Most can.
4. Check the bonus terms
Very high wagering (50x and up), short time limits and vague rules are red flags. See our guide to wagering.
5. Test support before you deposit
Open live chat and ask a simple question about withdrawals. A clear, quick answer is a good sign.
6. Search for complaints
Search the casino's name plus "withdrawal" or "complaint" on player forums. Look at how the casino responds, not just whether complaints exist.
7. Start small
Deposit a small amount, play a little, then withdraw. If that goes smoothly, you've learned a lot.
8. Make sure it's legal where you live
Many crypto casinos don't accept players from certain countries. Using a VPN to get in usually breaks the terms and can get your winnings frozen.
